(This should have been posted yesterday but never mind!)
One week old. Seven whole days. And he fits into our little family as though we have never been without him.
This first week has held so much for all four of us. An immense amount of joy and gratitude and love like we could not have imagined, alongside new levels of pain and frustration at all that had to happen to ensure Reuben's safe arrival into our arms.
He has met his grandparents, his uncles and a good handful of friends although not as many as we would have liked due to circumstances. He has managed to aim his milky sick within millimetres of Vianneys open mouth and then directly into my pocket; both impressive and gross!
He has taken to feeding like a complete star, nothing like the trauma and dramas involved in his brother's feeding as a newborn, which took six weeks to really get established. I am particularly grateful for this given all that's been going on with my pain and immobility.
He still hates a bath but is becoming less distressed by nappy changes by the day.
He seems to be calmed and soothed most by Noah's voice sometimes. The most frequent 'conversation' coming from Noah is an attempt to "teach Reuben to talk." This four year old is very persistent and determined as he explains over and over: "This is how you talk. Say HELLO! HELLOOOO!"
He loves staring into faces, his favourite being Daddy's definitely. We are putting him in as many of the lush newborn clothes as possible because the chunky little monkey will be outgrowing those within days I'm sure.
It's been a wonderful first week despite my injury and we have so many memories to treasure already. Along with many hundreds of photos. So blessed and so very grateful.
