6 Months

Half a year with you, Reuben. Half a year with even more smiles in our lives and immeasurable joy. You are such a little sweetheart, with the fondest smile I have ever known and a sense of mischief developing every day. Your favourite trick is definitely the dummy one, you really do seem to find it hilarious. As do we.

Your brother adores you and can't go more than an hour in your presence without kissing and cuddling you. He is so proud of you and even tells me off if he detects a hint of frustration in my voice when you won't sleep or settle. He's "got your back", that's for sure!

You're a pretty huge fan of his too and while the rest of us have to work to make you chuckle, all Noah has to do is exist and be in your eye line. Sketch too, in fact.

Bath time is still hands down your happiest time of the day, closely followed by the moment that wonderful big brother hops back into the car after school. That makes your (not so little) legs go!

You have begun to babble endlessly, with real intent to form sounds and it is delightful to listen to. You still growl and "chunner" as you try to fall asleep/fight the inevitable sleep as it is taking hold. And you always fall asleep in a pair of arms, either being rocked or just held close. You've made your peace with being put down into your cot (still on your tummy, you've loved sleeping on your front since you were around twelve weeks or so) once you've closed your eyes and realised you really do want to sleep. And while we are grateful for that, I do confess to choosing to cuddle you throughout your nap sometimes. You can hardly blame me; I know how soon this will be a distant memory, how fast you will keep growing and changing. For now, a snuggly sleep is no bad thing.

Your curls are growing by the day, all soft and fluffy. It seems like your hair will be a little different from Noah's but it's early days and time will tell.

You love to watch us as we do everything from stirring pots of food to cleaning our teeth to me drying my hair. It's like you are taking every last detail of our activities in. Grabbing is another thing you're very skilled at; letting go of things would be a great trick to master sometime soon, if you wouldn't mind! You love a mirror - that cute baby staring back always always has a big smile for you doesn't he. How charming he is. 

You are wonderful company and you are many things that we never dared imagine or hope for. You are so incredibly loved and we thank God for you all the time. We are two very blessed parents to have the privilege of raising you and your big brother. May we do our best for you always. Happy six months little bean xxx
