Play time

This afternoon our lovely lady from Flying Start came to play again and today she brought all kinds of sensory play items. Over recent weeks and months Reuben has become more and more intrigued by everything, wanting to feel everything he can get his hands on and watching every process intently as if it is the most interesting thing he's ever observed. It may be just that, to be fair! He is transfixed every time any one of us cleans our teeth; he loves to watch us cook and dish up his food; the enthusiasm he has for testing things by bashing them against various different surfaces is second to none.

So he was pretty much in heaven with the bag of goodies Jane brought with her today. There were mirrors, shakers, a stand with mirrors dangling and jingle bells attached, blocks with beads inside them... The list goes on.

 

By far the most entertaining and comical thing for me though was watching him play with the pieces of material; more specifically, watching his reaction when we put the materials on his head...

He left the thick fur-like one the longest! I think he quite liked it.

It's safe to say the sensory toys were a massive hit and I now have my creative hat on again to try and think up some easily home-made things to bring him - and me - some more of this joy. Today was fun!
